Mark and Blake, You guys should read "Looking For a Lost Dog" by Gretel Ehrlich. Blake's tone reminds me of her work, and Mark's story reminds me how she makes a walk into an essay. I couldn't find an on-line version, but if I do, I'll bring one in.....
